About GETAT
TÜSEB Traditional and Complementary Medicine Institute (GETAT) is a research and development institution operating under Health Institutes of Türkiye (TÜSEB). It is dedicated to the advancement, dissemination, and integration into public health of scientific and evidence-based traditional and complementary medicine practices.
Our primary objective is to support scientific research in the field of Traditional and Complementary Medicine (GETAT), to pioneer the development of new practices, and to enhance the body of knowledge in this area so as to introduce safe and effective practices that can be integrated into Türkiye’s health system.
The Institute operates across a broad spectrum of responsibilities, ranging from the promotion and support of R&D activities to the coordination of clinical research, from the establishment of centres of excellence and practice to the development of national and international collaborations. In addition, by working in cooperation with healthcare facilities, universities, and the private sector, the Institute serves as a strong bridge in both scientific and practical applications.
The Institute leads clinical research that demonstrates the efficacy and safety of GETAT practices supported by scientific studies. To ensure the ethical and scientific evaluation of these studies, it contributes to the establishment of ethics committees within practice centres. Additionally, by organizing training and certification programs for healthcare professionals, the Institute supports the development of a qualified workforce.
The science boards established within the Institute monitor scientific developments in the field of GETAT, provide policy recommendations, identify priority areas of work, and serve an advisory role in the implementation of new projects. The boards consist of experts and scientists with clinical experience and operate under the coordination of the Institute’s Head.
The Institute aims to develop projects that contribute to Türkiye’s digital health infrastructure, ensure the integration of health technologies with GETAT, and participate in national and international project support programs. In addition, by establishing scholarship and project support programs both domestically and abroad, the Institute contributes to the training of researchers.
Positioned at the intersection of traditional knowledge and contemporary science, the Institute contributes to Türkiye’s health vision and works towards the development of domestic and national health solutions. The dissemination of evidence-based practices and the establishment of reliable, sustainable health approaches are among the Institute’s core priorities.
